Note from the Pastor:

His Mercies Are New Each Morning

“It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed,

because his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning:

great is thy faithfulness.” – Lamentations 3:22-23

As the prophet Jeremiah wrote these words we see a

change in attitude from anguish to hope. It’s in these verses that

we see a remembrance of a bitter past replaced with the hope and

surrender to God’s faithfulness. When we are going through a valley

of life or when things are so bad we can’t see 5 feet or 5 minutes

ahead of us, it is at this very time that we must remember the

hope of a faithful God.

It’s because of God’s faithfulness that we know that we can

overcome getting stuck in the past, we can overcome anguish, we

can get out of the valley that we are in…..simply because of God’s faithfulness. Because God is faithful we fight off temptation, have

confidence when we pray, and courage when we are afraid. Just like

the darkness of night yields to the light of daybreak, we can have

confidence that God is as faithful as his creation – night turning

to daybreak.

Interestingly yesterday there was a ton of water laying

around the streets in around my neighborhood. In fact, that’s most

flooding I have ever seen in my two years in Cameron – one street

was impassable due to high water. Ponds formed in every low-lying

area I saw – I was so enamored that I took a picture of the

water consuming the grassy field which is used for football game

parking. However, when I awoke this morning things were different.

The amount of water seen was a lot less as the recession took place

quite quickly.

You never know what each day will hold for us, but we can

be confident that when we wake up, His mercies are new and fresh;

awaiting to engulf us and help us to a different place – perhaps a

place of higher ground where the storms of life won’t flood us.

God’s compassion never fails!  Great is His faithfulness!

In His Love,

Drew
