Note from the Pastor:                 "Are We in the Last Days?"

Certainly a hot topic at the center of many Christian circles lies the question: “Are we living in the end times?”  Are we in the last days? Generation after generation for the last 2,000 years have featured groups of people and prominent theologians who have thought Jesus was set to return.  However, Jesus made it clear that no one – not even Him – would know the hour or the day.

So with this Spirit in mind let’s take a look at Matthew 24: Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?"   4 And Jesus answered and said to them: "Take heed that no one deceives you.   5 For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many.   6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.   7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.  8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

My personal belief is that we are in the beginning of sorrows or “birth pangs” leading to a potential unprecedented historic period in world history. Yes, it could be 300 years away before Christ returns, but I would be mildly surprised if wasn’t in the next 100 years.  But, again, I have no idea, and God has given me no special revelation.  The purpose of this article is to simply get us thinking about worldly events from a “macro” view.

Earthquakes in Japan, Ecuador, even the flooding of Houston are big events and perhaps a start of the “beginning of sorrows.”  I know, I know, it’s a stretch but I said before the year started that this was going to be the year of the natural disasters – we’re seeing it folks.  Is it cyclical or something more?

We don’t know. I don’t know. But I want to offer you this opportunity: sit quietly somewhere for a few minutes and honestly ask and answer this question: Am I ready to meet Jesus?  What I mean if He were to show up, are you ready to meet Him?  I’m not asking if you are ready to die, I am asking if you are ready to meet Him.  Are your priorities, wants, and desires matching up with something that would glorify Jesus?  It’s a great time to do this exercise because if we aren’t in the “beginning of sorrows,” we are at the very least a day closer to Jesus’ return.

Good afternoon everyone!

I hope this email reaches you all well. Spring is typically a season where things tend to happen at the speed of light. Before we know it, it will already be summer.

In preparation for this Spring season and for Summer, I've posted some of the upcoming things happening here at Unashamed Synergy! I hope to see full participation from parents and youth as it will be worth while for everyone involved!

***Please note that Camp payments are officially due next Tuesday, April 12th. If you are interested in attending, please contact me ASAP as spots are quickly being filled. You'll need to pay a $100.00 deposit along with the $100.00 2nd payment per student. Thankfully, the Methodist Men at FUMC have decided to sponsor each student going to camp and pay for the remaining $75.00 balance per child. Don't miss out on this great opportunity to encounter God in a refreshing way along with your peers during the summer period!

***Next, please pay special attention to May 1st. We'll be taking a trip to Austin, TX for the God's Not Dead concert by the Newsboys!!! Each youth interested in going needs to pay $20.00 by Sunday, April 24th. The church will cover the meal for the evening.

Looking forward to an exciting next couple of weeks. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

Yours in Christ, BJ
